LA Sara Nile Cruise
The Nile River has surely played a critical
role in the history of ancient Egypt. Your Egypt Tour Guide gives you the
chance to visit Edfu and Kom Ombo Temples on board LA Sara Nile Cruise.
Sail to
Edfu Temple, considered the second largest temple after Karnak. It was
constructed on the Ptolemy III era and completed during the Ptolemy IV era. It
was dedicated to Horus, the falcon headed god. Therefore it was the center of
many ancient Egyptian sacred festivals to Horus. Furthermore, sail to Kom Ombo
Temple and visit the gorgeous temple, consists of two temples Sobek Temple and
Haroeris Temple. Kom Ombo Temple was built during the Greco Roman period. It was
constructed on the ruins of a much older temple which was called "Ber
Sobek" or the house of the god Sobek.
This complex was actually one of the last
remaining places where the ancient religion survived after the arrival of
Christianity in Egypt. Then visit the Unfinished Obelisk; taller than any known
obelisk ever raised. Quarrymen apparently abandoned the obelisk when fractures
appeared in its sides.
However, the stone, still attached to bedrock,
gives important clues to how the ancients quarried granite. Weighing nearly
1100 tons; it is 42m in length. Finally you will visit the High Dam which is
considered one of the most important achievements of the last century in Egypt,
built by the president Gamal Abdel Nasser because of the Nile River flooding,
which affected badly on many lands in Egypt, therefore this amazing project
started in 1960 and perfectly finished in 1971. Moreover, you will also enjoy
riding felucca on the Nile to visit Aswan Botanical Garden with LA Sara Nile
Cruise which is also known as Kitchener Island, it contains countless of exotic
plants and trees, besides very rare palm trees such as the Royal palm tree, the
Sabal Palm tree and the phonic Pam tree. The Island is a haven for rare exotic
birds too
